And so, nagkayayaan na naman ang pamilyang layas. This time, off to Liliw Laguna naman kami. Dadayuhin talaga naming ang patuloy na sumisikat na restaurant sa Liliw named Arabela.
Actually, I have been dreaming of visiting Arabela for such a long time. Balitang-balita kasi na there are lots of sumptuous pasta dishes to choose from. And the menu is not quite traditional. Dito naman sa southern part of Laguna, bihira ang mga ganyang kainan kaya gusting-gusto ko talaga i-try.
Buti na lang, nagyaya si Ate Judy, my eldest hipag. When she makes yaya, 90% natutuloy. Yehess!
We went there Sunday. We haven’t had any idea that it was the last day of Tsinelas Festival. Talking about “last day” and “festival”, we can expect that there’s a lot of people, stalls, goodies, sedera (as the oldies call it) etc... which also means heavy traffic, difficult parking = inconvenience. And, who would have thought of a heavy downpour amidst the heat of summer? And most of all, Arabela was really full-packed during that time. As in every table was fully occupied, a lot of customers were lining up and there were already tables and chairs placed outside to accommodate the eager customers. We had to wait for x hours just to be able to get a seat. Kalurkey.
And so, because it’s already passed 1 P.M. and we couldn’t stand the hassle and hunger pangs anymore plus we have a baby and a toddler, off we went to Calle Arco in Pagsanjan and had our lunch there. (Sobrang sarap din dun, as in!)
But, this doesn’t mean that we will forget Arabela so easily. So, after 3 (or 4?) days, nilusob ulit naming ang Arabela.
Arabela is situated, I think, pangalawang kanto before Badong Footwear. Oh well, madali ng magtanong 'pag andun na. Hehe... I'll give you the address later.
We’re very lucky this time...
Not a bunch of customers were present that day. I was able to take shots of their vintage-style interiors.
The green wall serves as a huge backdrop of their great art collection. You can see a lot of frames and paintings in different sizes.
The ceiling is low. I bet a 6-footer would be really challenged to move around. Nevertheless, I find the low ceiling, cute.
I'm not sure if these wines are for sale or just serve as a decor. Forgot to ask. Maybe because, I'm not a wine drinker. I haven't drunk wine since birth. Yes.
Some pasta sauces.
I really love this vintage lighting, so charming.
And this cute figurine chef!
Here's the menu:
Sa totoo lang, when the name of the dish is hard to pronounce at parang pang tongue twister, gustong-gusto ko tikman. Haha!
I'm so delighted to see a lot cakes and brownie bars! Sweet haven!
They have nuts and chocolates too! We bought a container of plain nuts and I could say that it's the freshest nuts I've ever tasted in my whole life!
Here comes the food!
Chicken soup. P70.00. We also ordered asparagus soup (P80.00) that is equally comforting and appetizing.
Fettucine with Ham. P95.00
Mixed Seafood - mussels, shrimp, squid, fish fillet and sauteed vegetables served with rice. P220.00
Pink Salmon. P240.00
Seafood Puttanesca -- mixed seafood in puttanesca sauce. P220.00
Pizza De Luxe Large. P260.00
Rib-eye Steak with Mashed Potato and Mixed Vegetables. P270.00
Sirlion Steak. P170.00
Blueberry cheesecake. P95.00 per slice
Rainbow brownie. P15.00 per bar
I really love our stay -- the resto's ambiance, the cool temperature inside, the food - everything's delicious! The price falls under mid-range category. I will definitely go back and try other dishes. (Oh my, that's a lot!) I just found the pizza de luxe and my seafood puttanesca a li'l bit salty. Maybe, they can just offer separate salt so the customers can adjust the taste according to their preference.
After this indulgence - our tummy is definitely satisfied. So, it's time to make our feet happy. We went to different footwear stores (of course, nasa Liliw kami!) but chose to buy from Badong Footwear. I bought 3 tsinelas na pambahay for ladies for P100, 2 pairs of cute and colorful sandals for me and Sam's yaya, P150 each, and another tsinelas na pambahay for Jodel for P100. Mas mahal 'yong sa lalake no? #PalakasKayHubby. LOL!
