Train up a child

Train up a child
Train up a child in the way he should go,
and when he is old he will not depart from it.
- Proverbs 22:6
It's interesting to note that this verse starts with an action word "train".

Looking at some of the definitions of the verb "train" in the dictionary, it gives us these:
  • to develop or form the habits, thoughts, or behavior of (a child or other person) by discipline and instruction.
  • to make proficient by instruction and practice, as in some art, profession, or work.
  • to make (a person) fit by proper exercise, diet, practice, etc., as for an athletic performance.
  • to discipline and instruct, as in the performance of tasks or tricks.
Which means, we should take appropriate actions when it comes to parenting. Train up a child, not just let him grow up.

I know it's not that easy. What I can just do is kneel first and ask God for help!

Lord, as a loving Father who guides and directs us, help us become the parents You want us to be. Give us wisdom how to train and discipline our children as they grow up. All for your glory!
