A Love Letter for You on Love Day
By Maloi Malibiran-Salumbides
I’m sure that this Valentine’s day, most of you will receive greetings from friends. You might even be surprised by someone with flowers and chocolates. Some may even have plans for a romantic date. But I’m well aware that days like this also make some people fret. You dread going to the office where almost everyone has a red rose in their cubicle except yours. You probably feel the pressure of not being attached to anyone, not having someone to spend Valentine’s day with. You’re probably feeling the emptiness of not being loved. But the truth is, Someone loves you BIG time.
Good morning and happy heart’s day to you. I’m Maloi Malibiran-Salumbides for Protips.
Years ago, when I was a young girl, I came across a gospel tract that looked like a letter in an airmail envelope. It was a love letter supposedly from Jesus. I know that the words on those tract were not really spoken nor written by Jesus, but it sure echoes what He probably feels when we go about the busyness of the day ignoring His presence and failing to spend time with Him.
Let me share with you today this love letter that impacted my life as a young girl. I hope you feel encouraged and loved after hearing this.
Dear Friend,
"How are you? I just had to send a note to tell you how much I love you and care about you.
I saw you yesterday as you were talking with your friends. I waited all day hoping you would want to talk with me also. As evening drew near, I gave you a sunset to close your day and cool breeze to rest you- and I waited. You never came. Oh yes, it hurts me- but I still love you because I am your friend.
I saw you fall asleep last night and longed to touch your brow, so I spilled moonlight upon your pillow and face. Again I waited, wanting to rush dawn so we could talk, I have so many gifts for you! You awakened late and rushed off to work. My tears were in the rain.
Today you looked so sad- so all alone. It makes my heart ache because I understand. My friends let me down and hurt me many times, too, but I love you.
Oh, if you would only listen to me. I love you! I try to tell you in the blue sky and in the quiet green grass. I whisper it in the leaves on the trees and breathe in the colors of flowers. I shout it to you in mountain streams and give the birds love songs to sing. I clothe you with warm sunshine and perfume the air with nature scents. My love for you is deeper than the ocean and bigger than the biggest want or need in your head. Oh if you only knew how much I want to walk and talk with you. We could spend an eternity together in heaven.
I know how hard it is on this earth, I really know! And I want to help you. I want you to meet my Father. He wants to help you, too. My father is that way, you know.
Just call me- ask me- talk with me! Oh please don't forget me. I have so much to share with you!
Alright, I won't bother you further. YOU are free to choose me. It is your decision. I have chosen you and because of this, I will wait- because I love you!"
Your Friend,
Jesus Christ
Don’t be pressured by the need to have someone or receive something this Valentine’s Day. Oh yes, it is nice to receive flowers. It is great to get chocolates. It is wonderful even to be asked out on a date. But the truth is, you already have Someone and He has already given you all that you need. John 3 :16 says, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life."
He’s just waiting for you to invite Him in your life and receive His gift of love and eternal life.
You can say this simple prayer if you want, "Jesus, thank you for loving a sinner like me. Thank you for giving your life to pay for my sins so that I can joy a loving and living relationship with you for eternity. I receive you into my heart as my Lord, Savior and Friend. Amen."
Receive God’s love and be a blessing in the workplace today!
