Design Inspirations: Home Entrance / Front Door

It's exactly a month since we've moved to our new home. And I have always been indoors. I admit, I've neglected the home entrance. I think it's time to do an upgrade to make it more appealing. This is the first thing that the visitors see after all.

I know painting the fence will do wonders! I'll have it painted, maybe after a month or two, due to budget constraints. Hehe... I like dark grey in combination with white.

My mother-in-law is passionate about gardening so she planted these. She couldn't wait until I've bought some garden soil. She must have been really excited! I'm still about to know the name of these plants. She doesn't have any idea as well.

Actually, I don't like a shoe rack to be placed outside. But I'll leave it there until I've bought a small show cabinet to be placed inside.

How about the rug? I'll replace it once I've found something bongga and colorful.

A little googling, and I've come up with some design inspirations:

This is my first choice 'cause this is the easiest for me to implement. I have a spare flower pots in different sizes and colors too!

This is the next one.I love the swirl plants. Since, our home are full of straight lines, adding this would bring a punch.

Also love the plants here. We have two columns too, and these are needing four wall lamps. I haven't fall in love yet with the lamps I've seen in the stores.

Almost all the design patterns are the same. (A little off the topic, in Software Architecture/Development, there are design patterns too! Things are becoming more exciting!!!) Just add two pots with a big plant of your choice, place at the two sides of the door, then voila! Simple upgrade but gives tremendous change to the look.

I.love.wind.chimes. I like its sound. It's soothing and relaxing. Whenever I hear it, it feels like I'm in an enchanted garden full of flowers, with the cool wind gently touching my skin. Everything is just so fresh. All my worries are being taken away. Wind chimes seems to invite more breeze! Hubby should buy some in Japan.

I'm not a believer of feng shui but its followers will be delighted with the idea. In feng shui, wind chimes is not only used for decorative purposes but also believed to ease depression, eliminate laziness, balance flow of energy and invite prosperity.

How about adding a bench? It's not just cute, the ambiance becomes more welcoming! And I want a colorful one! Let's see if a bench will look good to our home entrance.

How about you? What does your home entrance look like? If you are planning to upgrade it like me, what would be your peg designs? From the photos above, what is your first pick?
