The “La Laguna Festival”, is a grand event that “unites all the 25 towns and 5 cities of the Province of Laguna in four major events, namely: the Trade Fair Booth Competition, which depicts the deeply-rooted Christian faith in every Laguneño of honoring each town’s patron saint; Land Float Competition, Fluvial Parade/Competition, and the Street Dance Competition.” Other events to enjoy are the Dragon Boat Race and Banca Race that pays tribute to the remarkable boat riding skills of fisher folks and seaside dwellers of the province. Also included are fun competitions that truly make the festival much more exciting! These competitions include fireworks competition, gay talents, cheer dance, beauty contests, landscape, cooking, flair tending, dog show, Laguna designers’ competition, among others. Other activities include Bike for fun, marathon, film showing, exhibits, sagala and many more!
La Laguna Festival has been awarded back to back as the Best Tourism Festival by the Department of Tourism (DOT) and the Association of Tourism Officers of the Philippines (ATOP) in the provincial category.
This year is La Laguna Festival’s third year and it carries the theme “Sa Puso at Diwa: Una sa Lahat ang Bagong Laguna (In Heart and Mind: The New Laguna is Number One).”
Now, the province of Laguna is inviting us to join the 10-day grand celebration of La Laguna Festival 2013! The festival opened yesterday, March 8 and will last until the 17th of March. Most of the events will be held at the provincial capitol grounds of Sta. Cruz, Laguna. For the complete schedule of events:

ReplyDeleteHi Kriztine. Please be informed that our province now has five cities and twenty-five towns. Also, the correct and official demonym for the people of La Laguna is LAGUNENSE, not Laguneño. Although some people still use Laguneño (even the governor himself, no thanks to some of his speech writers), that doesn't make it correct. Just a friendly FYI. Regards.

ReplyDeleteYou're welcome. Just remember that the name of our province is Spanish. And there are many La Lagunas all over the world with residents calling themselves as "Lagunenses". The Philippines has the only La Laguna in the world whose people call themselves "Laguneños". Well, not all people. Old folk still refer to themselves as Lagunenses. It's today's generation that is the problem. I think I better raise this issue to the governor the next time we meet. It may be regarded as a trifle matter to many, but not if our IDENTITY is already in question. Best regards.
